Drosera admirabilis
Floating Sundew
Drosera admirabilis is a beautiful sundew species found primarily in the Overstrand region and Cape Peninsula, with scattered observations Northwards into the Cederberg and through the Eastern mountains of the Cape floristic region.
It is primarily a montane species, inhabiting permanent seepage areas in heavily peated soil. Flowering occurs in summer and is perennial, growing year round regardless of environmental conditions. In one area of Bainskloof it grows waterlogged or partially submerged for part of the year leading to this form being called “species floating” until it was aligned with admirabilis.
